YOPP Data Portal

The YOPP Data Portal yopp.met.no is currently under development in the context of the Year of Polar Prediction. The YOPP Data Portal at yopp.met.no will provide metadata and links to respective data sets generated during the Year of Polar Prediction. As a legacy for YOPP, this data portal is going to take into account the various requirements of end-users working with the YOPP data collection.

Data Management Data will be archived at the facilities provided by MET Norway, or elsewhere as specified in respective projects. According to our open data policy, all data is freely available to the public. Access to the data is provided via the YOPP data portal yopp met no, the thredds service thredds met no, the CMEMS data dissemination system and elsewhere specified in the respective projects.
Data Policy The YOPP Data Portal utilises interoperability interfaces to metadata and data in order to provide a unified view on the datasets that are relevant for YOPP activities. The YOPP Data Portal is also the interface for YOPP metadata to WMO Information System (WIS) and WMOIntegrated Global Observing System (WIGOS)-. The YOPP Data Portal will also facilitate real time access to data through Internet and WMO GTS2 as requested by the user community. This require a certain level of interoperability at the data level in addition to at the metadata level. On GTS WMO formats (BUFR and GRIB) is required and the YOPP Data Portal can transform into these formats in the dissemination process provided contributing data centres are following the required standards for documentation and interfaces to data.
Data Sharing Principle Helmholtz Association adopts open access policy. Scientific results should be publicly accessible for sharing with science, industry and society without any barriers. the Helmholtz Association is making a concrete contribution to implementing the “open science" strategy proposed by the G7 Science and Technology Ministers’ Meeting, and that it is actively rooting open science in the European Research Area. According to the guideline the Helmholtz Centres are asking their employees to make those publications accessible and open for sharing that they have authored alone or collectively with others as a result of their work for the Helmholtz Association. The papers should be openly accessible on publication or within six months.
