"The data under the hood of Yr has been approved as a digital public good, as the first of its kind. The Digital Public Goods Alliance, led by UNICEF (UN), is responsible for the approval.

The data available on MET Norway Weather API provides digital public good access to user-friendly 10-day weather forecasts of high quality all over the world. The data is open and freely available on a platform others can build on top of. Use of these data can be new services and / or digital public goods. For example, Norwegian Broadcasting Company and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute have built Yr on top of the MET Norway Weather API, but mainly aimed at Norwegian users."

Data Management "MET's data sources consists of: Raw data from measuring instruments, visual observations and quality assured data from measuring instruments. Measurement data quality assured with KVALOBS and similar systems. Calculated values ​​in weather and ocean forecast models, geoscientific post process values ​​from the models, including the AROME weather forecasting models. In order for the data from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute to be considered as our official data the following requirements must be met: The data must be produced by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute directly or be based on the operational organisations we participate in: ECMWF and EUMETSAT. The institute's management has approved that we can base external deliveries on the data and an operating procedure has been established for the production of the data. MET's products consists of: All data processed whether it be estimated statistical elements or completed transformations, such as extracts, formatting, visualisation, alignment and interpretation comprise MET products. Includes associated metadata. The products are the result of processing with an increase in value in excess of what the underlying data provides and they are based on MET's official data. Data Sharing Principle "Basically all our data and products are free and available free of charge from our download services. If you want to arrange a customised delivery of data then it will incur a start-up charge and an annual management charge. The information itself is still free. The charges cover the resources that we use in order to set up and then operate the delivery, and will depend on the data and the products you want to have delivered. Guaranteed deliveries are priced so that a share of the infrastructure used to maintain a stable supply, and the cost of monitoring are covered. We will try to accommodate all requests relating to access to meteorological data and products, but for special deliveries our capacity can be limited. Delivery guarantee For customised deliveries of data and products that are produced by MET with priority systems, 99.5% availability is guaranteed and error rectification will start within one hour on a 24/7/365 basis. For other data and products a guarantee of up to 95% availability can be given and error rectification will start within one hour during normal working hours, or the next working day."
